Flower sale proceeds go toward trips for veterans

DUBLIN, Ohio (WCMH) – The Washington Township Fire Department held its seventh annual flower sale today.

Not only can customers pick something up for their moms, they’ll help support a good cause.

That’s because sales go toward Honor Flight Columbus: a nonprofit that gives United States veterans a trip to Washington D.C. to see the memorials of the wars they’ve fought in.

In the first six years of the flower sale, the station raised $100,000 dollars for honor flights, selling 2,000 planters every year.

“The community of central Ohio as a whole, Dublin specifically, has always supported this sale, and it’s something we’re very grateful for,” said firefighter paramedic Charles Cattrell.

The sale is taking place at Washington Township fire station 91, located at 6255 Shier Rings Road in Dublin. They’ll be open from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. every day this weekend.
