Florida woman forgets ABCs during sobriety test: ‘It was so many years ago’

MARION COUNTY, Fla. (WFLA) — A Florida woman was arrested for driving under the influence over the weekend after an off-duty deputy saw her “driving erratically.”

According to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, Lt. Bloom witnessed Tammy Angel, 61, driving erratically on SE Maricamp Road on April 5. After initiating a traffic stop, Lt. Bloom noticed “numerous signs of impairment” when he went to check on Angel.

Following the stop, Corporal Young responded to the scene to conduct seated Field Sobriety Exercises due to the 61-year-old’s level of intoxication.

During the exercises, Angel was asked to recite the alphabet; however, she forgot how the song went. On Monday, the sheriff’s office released bodycam footage of the incident that shows Angel slurring her words while trying to recite the ABCs.

“A…B…C..it was so many years ago,” Angel said during the sobriety test.

The woman continued to try to recite the alphabet but was ultimately arrested for driving under the influence.

According to the MCSO, Angel was “so intoxicated that she had to be evaluated at the hospital before going to jail.”
