Flag raising at UPMC Somerset in honor of Donate Life Month

SOMERSET ― In honor of national Donate Life Month Monday, representatives from UPMC Somerset and CORE Center for Organ Donation and Recovery gathered alongside local organ donation recipient Mackston Barrick and his mother, Jessica Barrick, to raise a flag and spread awareness about the significant impact and importance of organ, tissue and cornea donations.

More than 100,000 people are waiting for a life-saving transplant, including more than 7,000 in Pennsylvania. Each organ donor can save up to eight lives – a number that means that much more when you know that every day, 22 people in the United States die while waiting for an organ transplant.

Those interested may visit UPMC.com/DonateLife to register to become an organ, eye and tissue donor.
