First Responder Friday: Chris Rosafort

HORRY COUNTY, S.C. (WBTW) — It’s time for another edition of First Responder Friday as News13 honors Grand Strand and Pee Dee first responders.

This week’s nominee is Capt. Chris Rosafort with Horry County Fire Rescue. Rosafort started his career as an EMT when he was 18 years old.

He traveled through the ranks over the past 18 years, starting as a fire lieutenant.

In 2019, he was promoted to fire captain. Rosafort is described as a very knowledgeable and caring person. Known for his cooking skills, he frequently prepares an impressive meal for his fellow coworkers.

Even after working a regular 24-hour shift, he still finds time to support others in the community. He and his wife Maggie trained their English Black Lab, Walter Jr., to be a therapy dog.

You can find them many days, including weekends, at Myrtle Beach International Airport while Walter comforts and greets travelers.

Those close to Rosafort say he’s always ready to help his neighbors and goes beyond his “day job” to help anyone at any time.
