First of four men sentenced in death of taxi driver
ST. LOUIS – One of the four men involved in a fatal robbery nearly two years ago was sentenced Wednesday.
Coron Dees, 20, was sentenced to 17 years in prison. He, along with three others, are being held responsible for the death of 54-year-old cab driver Dewight Price.
In April 2022, Dees was with Jeremiah Allen, now 20, Trishawn Jones, now 19, and Tywon Harris, now 20, when they left a party downtown. The group stopped at a gas station and Harris called for a taxi, planning on going to a fake address near his home, and to run away without paying, according to a release.
When they learned the ride would have to be paid for in advance, the four began plotting how they would rob Price.

Price was instructed to drive to the Hazelwood Central High School parking lot, as they believed nobody would be there at the time. According to officials, Dees and Jones pulled guns out, demanding money from Price. He begged the teens not to shoot him.
Price gave cash to Jones and proceeded to grab a firearm he had in his door. Allen allegedly told the group about Price’s gun beforehand. The driver attempted to get out of the vehicle, and Harris opened his door, causing Price to fall to the ground.
Jones saw Price’s weapon and fired once in his torso. The four then fled the scene.
Dees, Allen, and Jones have pleaded guilty to a robbery charge. Jones and Harris have pleaded guilty to one count of aiding and abetting in the commission of the murder, according to officials.
Allen and Jones are scheduled for their sentencing in May and Harris’ is scheduled for July.
