Fire damages office in northwest Rochester

Apr. 24—ROCHESTER — A blaze at an apartment complex office caused smoke and fire damage Tuesday night.

According to a statement from Rochester Fire Department, crews responded at 7:21 p.m. Tuesday, April 23, 2024, to a report of garbage cans on fire near the Innsbruck Apartments office in the 1500 block of 59th Street Northwest.

When crews arrived on the scene, they found heavy fire and smoke coming from the office building as well as materials behind the structure. RFD crews began applying water from the exterior onto the fire. When the majority of the fire was out, crews transitioned to further extinguish hot spots.

RFD crews then verified that no one was inside the building. The crews then ventilated the structure to clear any hazardous gases that were present.

The structure suffered heavy smoke damage to the interior as well as fire damage to the exterior. No one was injured.

Mayo Clinic Ambulance, Rochester Police Department, chaplain service and Rochester Public Utilities also responded to the scene.
