Fern Britton has addressed her awkwardness with her Celebrity Big Brother housemate Nikita Kuzmin, insisting she wasn’t trying to “get at him”.
The TV star, 66, and the Strictly dancer were both in the recent series of the reality show, which was won by David Potts. But during their stay there seemed to be some tension between them, with Britton taking issue with Kuzmin remarking on her jumper and telling her stripes were in style and implying that he was being patronising because of her age.
“Never look at an old person and think they're just old,” she told the 26-year-old, who insisted he was just paying her a compliment.

Britton has now opened up about it on ITV’s This Morning, suggesting that any tension was heightened because of the odd environment of being on the fly on the wall show.
Presenters Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley had been quizzing Britton about her housemates, and asked about Kuzmin. “Nikita is charming, absolutely handsome, gorgeous,” she replied.
“Something happened there… I accidentally said, I don’t even quite know what I said, but he thought it was something to get at him and it really wasn’t,” she went on.
Shephard pointed out that things in the house feel heightened and that more is made of them than usual, and Britton agreed. “It was a difficult one,” she said.
“I was just trying to explain that, because I think he’d already put me up for nomination, and he said, he told me that it was because I went to bed early, that I wouldn’t do his gym sessions, but you know, I’ve had this shoulder replaced so I couldn’t do all those weights so it wasn’t that. That I didn’t play his games - yes I did!
“When he came out he said, ‘I’m sorry’ and I said, ‘That’s cool but I do do all those things don’t I?’ and he said, ‘Yes you do’. So he had to think of something to nominate and that’s absolutely fine.”
What else happened on This Morning?
Britton also admitted that she hasn't watched herself back on Celebrity Big Brother, and doesn't have any immediate plans to do so.
"I am not going to, not for a long time," she said. "I don't want to embarrass myself and sit on the sofa feeling ghastly on my own and I don't want to delve deep into anything, well, I just don't want to."
