Felon arrested in Urbana after gun, drugs found in home

URBANA, Ill. (WCIA) — Urbana Police arrested a felon on Saturday after a gun and illegal drugs were found in his home.

At 10:30 p.m. in the area of Hyde and East Stebbins Drives, Urbana officers responded to a report of a domestic dispute between a man and a woman.

A witness saw the man, identified as 38-year-old Harvey Blakely of Urbana, with a gun. Blakely was a felon who was released on parole from the Illinois Department of Corrections in December 2023. Police searched the residence and found a loaded pistol, as well as more than 2 grams of crack cocaine.

Blakely was arrested and charged with armed violence, possession of a controlled substance, unlawful possession of a weapon by felon, and received an Illinois Department of Corrections parole warrant. He remains in the Champaign County Satellite Jail.
