Federal funding for bridge approved, crane to arrive Friday

Gov. Wes Moore submitted an emergency $60 million request for funding from the federal government. He announced Thursday evening that request was approved. "We want to be clear — $60 million is just a down payment, not the final payment," U.S. Department of Transportation official Shailen Bhatt said. First, crews will clear debris from the channel, then remove the cargo ship, before removing the rest of the bridge debris from the water. Cranes are on the way to do that. One will arrive Friday, another on Saturday.
