False active shooter report at Hickory HS under investigation: Police

HICKORY, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — Hickory High School is one of several schools across North Carolina that received false active shooter threats on Monday, April 1.

According to the Hickory Police Department, the threat was made at 12:28 p.m., stating there was an active shooter at Hickory High School. The caller said shots were fired inside the school.

Officers were aware that all students were currently out of school for Spring Break and that the school was occupied by minimal staff. The building was cleared by police.

Hickory Police had received information earlier in the day about similar false reports occurring across the state and are currently investigating this incident.
