Yahoo Autos Is This an Even Hotter Ford Focus RS500 Testing at the Nurburgring?
Earlier this month, we reported a rumor that Ford might be developing a hotter version of the Focus RS, potentially called the Focus RS500. And while Ford still hasn't confirmed whether a faster Focus RS is actually happening, this video appears to show exactly that.
Shot at the Nurburgring, you can see a vented hood that looks similar to the one used on the previous-gen Focus RS500. And while we can't verify this, the uploader claims the test mule has larger wheels, bigger brakes, upgraded aero and suspension packages, and an improved chassis.
We've also heard rumor that the RS500, if it makes it to production, could benefit from some serious lightweighting efforts (maybe even a rear-seat delete!). Some folks say it could get a dual-clutch gearbox, a departure from the manual-only RS. There's no word yet whether a hotter hatchback would get a power boost beyond the base-model RS's 350 hp and 350 lb.-ft. from the EcoBoost 2.3-liter four-cylinder.
Whether that's all accurate or not, as much as we love the current Focus RS, we're definitely looking forward to the possibility of a faster version.
