How you can enjoy Blandford Nature Center for free next month

GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) — Throughout the month of April, you will have the chance to enjoy the Blandford Nature Center for free.

The nature preserve partnered with Lake Michigan Credit Union to offer free admission from April 1 to April 30. Not only will guests be able to enter the center and trails free of charge but they will also be able to participate in special programming.

Guests will have access to 264 acres of forests, wetlands and trails. Blandford said it is opening the grounds to the public for free in honor of Earth Day on April 22 and to help encourage families to explore the outdoors.

Some of the programs that will be available throughout the month for guests to check out include animal storytimes, frog watch hikes, composting workshops and more.

Along with the free admission, Blandford has also announced the return of its Sensory Night on April 25 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. This is the second time the center has been able to provide an open house-styled event to provide a space for all to feel welcomed.

“Sensory Night is a great opportunity for people of all ages and abilities to come out to Blandford and enjoy wildlife encounters, interactive listening activities and wildlife-inspired crafts,” Katie Clouse, the volunteer and community outreach manager said in a statement. “Artists Creating Together will also be bringing their Creative Cube — a fully accessible mobile studio that brings arts to individuals of all abilities!”

The trails will be open to the public from dusk to dawn and the center itself will be open Monday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
