Emergency road repair in downtown Abingdon causes delays on Main Street

ABINGDON, Va. (WJHL) — The Town of Abingdon said crews are conducting emergency street repairs on Main Street, which is expected to cause heavy congestion while work is being completed.

A social media post by the town said the repairs are occurring on Main Street between College Street and Pardington Place. The post said this is directly in front of Town Hall and The Martha Washington.

Town leaders said this work will cause heavy congestion in the area, and drivers should plan for an alternate route, if possible. The post urges drivers to follow all traffic signage and use caution in the area.
