ELIOT, Maine — Town Clerk Wendy Rawski will represent Maine this month at the Congressional Elections Assistance Standards Board meeting.

Maine Secretary of State Shenna Bellows selected Rawski to represent the Pine Tree State at the national assembly of election officials, which will take place on April 17-18 in Kansas City, Missouri.

The Congressional Elections Assistance Standards Board is part of the U.S. Election Assistance Commission. It is a 110-member board designated under the Help America Vote Act to assist the commission in carrying out its mandates. The board is composed of 55 state election officials and 55 local election officials chosen through a process overseen by the chief state election officials.

Bellows noted the “awesome responsibility” in representing Maine and how Rawski was suited for this “leadership role” in her confirmation letter.

"Rawski’s experience and ethical approach to her election duties is fittingly respected in Eliot and obviously recognized throughout Maine as the high standard," stated a press release from the town of Eliot.  "Having someone of Clerk Rawski’s professional stature, experience and integrity represent the Pine Tree State at this important gathering, at such an important time in our democracy will only add strength to our national cause to keep election fair and secure for all Americans."

Born and raised in Eliot, Rawski has been Eliot's town clerk since 2004 and has administered over 50 elections and Town Meetings.
