Earthquake shakes New Jersey

GLADSTONE, N.J. (PIX11) – A 2.6-magnitude earthquake shook New Jersey early Wednesday morning, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

The earthquake hit just after 7 a.m., less than a mile away from Gladstone, which is close to where a 2.9-magnitude earthquake struck on Saturday.

Can a major earthquake hit New York City?

The smaller earthquakes come after a 4.8-magnitude earthquake rattled the Garden State and New York City on April 5. Approximately 42 million people felt the earthquake, according to the USGS.
