Earth Day: A look at what makes our planet special

COLUMBUS, Ga. (WRBL) — Today is Earth Day, a day that we honor and celebrate our remarkable planet

With vast oceans and changing geography, it is the only planet in our solar system that is known to host life.

Sitting at nearly 93 million miles away from the sun, it is the largest terrestrial planet and the 5th largest planet in our solar system.

Our atmosphere is made up of mainly nitrogen, oxygen, and trace amounts of other chemicals, this combined with habitat temperatures allow life to survive and thrive.
