Earth Day in Harrisburg: The city’s goal is to be the ‘neatest speck on Earth’

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM)– Environmental leaders marked Earth Day at Harrisburg’s Reservoir Park.

During the event, students from Melrose Academy built birdboxes for the park. Speakers said protecting the environment goes beyond cutting down on pollution.

They also talked about recent investments in Reservoir Park including trail improvements they say will improve public health and boost the economy.

Harrisburg’s mayor says it’s a priority to make the city both cleaner and greener.

“We might be one speck on the giant blue marble Earth, but we are doing our part to make sure that it is the neatest speck there is,” Mayor Wanda Williams said.
