Duo charged for York County car dealership, home burglaries

YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM)– Two men are facing charges after police say they burglarized a York County car dealership along with multiple homes in the community.

Justin Ritz, 20 and Joseph Steffes Jr., 20, both of Wrightsville, are accused of stealing various items from Bowles Auto Sales, found along Craley Rd., that police estimated the cost to be around $5,000, according to the charges filed by Lower Windsor Township Police.

Police said that on April 10 around 12:30 a.m., Ritz allegedly went through multiple cars in the lot while Steffes acted as a lookout for him. According to the charges, the two managed to enter the front door of the business by using a key.

Ritz allegedly stole a GMC Yuko that the duo rode around in before he brought it back to the car dealership. Police said they found most of the stolen car keys inside the vehicle.

According to police, the duo was also involved in burglarizing several homes and businesses in the area of Craley Road the day before the auto shop burglary.

One homeowner reported to police a rear window screen that was broken and appeared to “have been pried away from the window to the extent the window screen was broken,” the criminal complaint states. Police said that despite the damage to the window, the duo did not get into the home.

There was Ring video footage that police say showed Ritz trying to get into the home while Steffes acted as a lookout. Steffes allegedly admitted to police that he was the lookout during the burglaries after he was taken into custody, according to the complaint.
