Drug Take Back Day set for April 27

Apr. 16—The Indiana State Police is set to partner with the Drug Enforcement Administration for their 26th Prescription Drug Take Back initiative. The Take Back initiative seeks to prevent prescription drug abuse and theft through proper disposal of unwanted prescription drugs, according to a news release from ISP recently.

The Indiana State Police Peru Post will host their collection site from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 27. The Peru Post is located at 1451 N. Eel River Cemetery Road.

Collection sites will be set up nationwide for expired, unused and unwanted prescription drugs which will be properly disposed of without threat to the environment. This program is for pill and liquid medications. Vaping pens without batteries and vaping cartridges will also be taken. Needles or sharps of any kind will not be accepted for disposal. This service is free and anonymous with no questions asked.
