UPDATE: Driver injured after crashing into pole on Burrell Street in Roanoke, charges pending

UPDATE 4:12 P.M. ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR)– The Roanoke Fire and EMS Department has provided details regarding the single-vehicle crash on Liberty Road NW.

Fire officials say crews responded to a report of a vehicle crash with entrapment on Liberty Road NW shortly after 10 a.m. Crews arrived to find a vehicle overturned next to a fallen pole with a passenger trapped inside.

Two flown to hospital after head-on crash on Highway 58 in Carroll County

The fire department was able to extricate the trapped occupant safely and took them to a local hospital for treatment.

There is no update on the driver’s status.

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Police in Roanoke have blocked off Liberty Road after a vehicle crashed into a power pole and hit another car in the Northwest area on Wednesday.

Police said their preliminary investigation indicates the driver was traveling north on Burrell Street NW when it first collided with a power pole and then hit an unoccupied vehicle.

The Roanoke Fire-EMS crew took the driver to the hospital for treatment.

Police confirmed no other injuries have been reported and charges are pending.

Liberty Road from Burrell Street to Gayle Street NW will be closed as crews work to assess damages.
