Dozens of security cameras installed at Dauphin County parks

DAUPHIN COUNTY — In an effort to cut down on vandalism, a new $100,000 camera surveillance system — which is covered by two grants — is being installed at five of the 15 parks across Lower Paxton Township.

“There was $4,000 worth of damage done to the bathrooms at Koons Park last year, and there was $10,000 done to George Park,” said Robin Lindsey, Chairwoman of the Lower Paxton Township Board of Supervisors.

That’s partially what led to the decision to implement cameras, according to Adam Kosheba, the Director of Public Safety for Lower Paxton Township.

“We had a vehicle actually drive up onto [a park] property and tear up the lawn,” Kosheba said. “We ended up in a vehicle pursuit because of it.”
