Downed tree takes out entire Missouri town’s power

NOEL, Mo. — The storms Friday morning brought down a tree near Noel, Missouri knocking out power to the entire town.

Just before 10 a.m. Friday, the Noel Marshal’s Office and Noel Fire Department received a call about power lines down on Highway 90.

First responders said the wind and rain knocked down a tree, which fell onto the power lines.
That knocked out power to the entire city.

Law enforcement had to close state Highway 90 for about 45 minutes while they removed the tree. Liberty crews worked throughout the afternoon to get power restored.

Officers said while they know power outages can be inconvenient, there is one thing people need to keep in mind when they happen.

“So the one thing we stress, don’t call 911 to ask when power is going to be restored or to repeat a power outage, please know they are working on it as much as possible, call 911 only for a true emergency,” said Sgt. Travis Sheppard, Noel Marshal’s Office.

Liberty crews are still working to restore the power. They hope to have things back to normal any time now.
