District 518 approves employment changes, including non-renewal of contracts

Apr. 16—WORTHINGTON — The District 518 Board of Education authorized a number of staffing changes during its Tuesday evening meeting, including the nonrenewal of 15 teacher contracts.

Superintendent John Landgaard said the primary reasons for the nonrenewals are licensure issues or performance.

If it's a licensure issue, Landgaard said they will seek applicants for someone licensed in that particular area to interview.

"Anyone who is a Tier 1 non-renew could get rehired, depending on the applications and what we have," Landgaard said.

The probationary teacher contracts approved for nonrenewal include: Margaret Gaudian, Jacob Maertens, Jay Duitsman, Dominic Burns, Brooke Thielbar, Arlett Rodriguez, Vanita Deschene De Berumen, Anna Van Zee, Kristin Walerius, Katie Titus-Schmahl, Sara Browen, Katie Finley, Jody Bryant, Cindy Puckett and Mariah Teerink.
