Did you feel a chill? Temperatures in Topeka dropped by 3.6 degrees during solar eclipse.

Temperatures at Forbes Field temporarily dropped by 3.6 degrees during Monday's partial solar eclipse, the National Weather Service's Topeka office said.

The mercury reading at Forbes fell from 64.4 degrees at 1:30 p.m. to 60.8 degrees at 2:10 p.m., then started back upward, said Sarah Teefey, a meteorologist for that office.

Temperature figures weren't available during the time period involved for the weather service's office near Topeka's Phillip Billard Municipal Airport because work was being done at the time on the measuring equipment there, said Adam Jones, a meteorologist for that office.

Monday's eclipse left the sun obscured 87.1% by the moon in Topeka when it started at 12:36 p.m. and ended at 3:09 p.m.
