Dickinson man injured, charged with DUI-drugs in crash near Jamestown

Apr. 25—JAMESTOWN — A Dickinson, North Dakota, man was injured and charged with driving under the influence-drugs after the vehicle he was driving left Intertate 94 and entered a slough about 6 miles west of Jamestown on Thursday, April 25, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Dwayne Cason, 60, was driving a 2023 Toyota RAV4 eastbound on I-94 at 1:30 p.m. near mile marker 252. The patrol said Cason lost control of the vehicle and it left the highway and entered the south ditch. The vehicle continued into the slough across open water and came to rest facing east on its wheels in cattails, the patrol said.

Cason was wearing a seat belt and sustained minor injuries. A passenger, Linda Rocha, 60, Dickinson, was not injured and was not wearing a seat belt, the patrol said.

The patrol helped Cason and Rocha get out of the slough where they were treated by Jamestown Area Ambulance personnel.

Cason and Rocha were transported by Jamestown Area Ambulance to Jamestown Regional Medical Center.

Cason remains in the care of JRMC, the patrol said. Cason was arrested for driving under the influence-drugs, the patrol said.

The patrol is investigating the crash.
