(WHTM) – Democrat Amanda Waldman will once again look to unseat Republican Congressman Dan Meuser in the November 5 election.

Waldman and Meuser both ran unopposed in the April primary to represent Pennsylvania’s 9th Congressional District, which stretches from Lebanon County up to the Northern Tier and Northeastern Pennsylvania. The district totals all or parts of 12 counties.

Waldman works as a financial representative in the Medicare industry in Lycoming County and has a degree in English from Bloomsburg University. She lost the 2022 general election to Meuser by nearly 40 points with Meuser receiving 69.3% and 116,000 more votes.

Waldman also previously ran for the Pennsylvania House of Representatives’ 84th District seat in 2020, losing to Joe Hamm 78.8% to 21.2%.

Meuser has served in Congress since 2019 and has won each of his general election races with at least 59% of the vote. The Luzerne County native previously served as CEO of Pride Mobility Products and was nominated to serve as Pennsylvania’s Secretary of Revenue in 2011.

A member of the House Small Business and Financial Services committees, Meuser has highlighted agriculture, veteran’s affairs, and safe communities as some of his top priorities in Congress.

In 2023 Meuser briefly ran for Speaker of the House after Kevin McCarthy was removed from his post.

Meuser has reported raising more than $961,000 toward his campaign and having more than $229,000 cash on hand.
