Decatur Police: traffic briefly diverted after wreck with injuries near U.S. 31 and Highway 72

DECATUR, Ala (WHNT) — The Decatur Police Department (DPD) says traffic is back to normal after a wreck at the Highway 31/Highway 72 interchange near Decatur.

DPD said just before 9 p.m. Friday that there was a single-vehicle wreck with an injury “at the Y” of the interchange.

The department said traffic was briefly diverted to Highway 31 due to the wreck, but the that the wreck was cleared as of 9:39 p.m.

News 19 has reached out to Decatur police for more information on the wreck.

Authorities said drivers should use extra caution in the area.
