When officers told Spence he was under arrest, officials said Spence did not comply and resisted officers’ attempts to take him into custody. After securing Spence, officers searched him and found a loaded 9mm pistol on his person.

Spence was booked into the Sangamon County Jail on charges of possessing a weapon as a felon and resisting arrest. He was also given driving tickets for speeding and illegal transportation of alcohol.
