Deadly shooting victim found by police in north Topeka

TOPEKA (KSNT) – Police are investigating an area in north Topeka Friday following the discovery of a homicide victim.

The Topeka Police Department (TPD) announced in a press release that officers were called just before 11 a.m. on May 24 to the 100 block of NW U.S. Highway 24 on a person suffering from a gunshot wound. Officers arriving at the scene found one person dead.

Rosie Nichols, a City of Topeka spokeswoman, says the situation is being investigated by police as a homicide. More information on this incident will be provided as it becomes available.
