Deadly shooting, vehicle strikes CATS bus in northeast Charlotte: CMPD

CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — An investigation is underway after a deadly shooting resulted in a vehicle crashing into a CATS bus, Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police said Wednesday.

Officers responded to calls regarding the incident around 1 a.m. Wednesday, May 22, near 7500 N. Tryon Street in northeast Charlotte. A man was found inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene. A 22-year-old woman was also found inside the vehicle and was transported to an area medical center with non-life-threatening injuries.

An initial investigation stated that a vehicle that was shot into then proceeded to crash into the rear of a CATS bus that was occupied by only the bus driver. There is no mention of any charges or arrests at this time and this remains an active investigation.

Operations Command, Medic, Charlotte Fire, CATS officials, Medic, and CSI were among the departments that responded to the crime scene
