DC Police Union: DC police officer hit by car, hospitalized

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — A Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officer was hurt after a car struck the officer Thursday morning, the D.C. Police Union confirmed.

The crash happened around 8 a.m. on M Street between New Jersey Avenue and 5th Street SE. In a post on X, the D.C. Police Union said one of its members was struck in the incident.

At the time, the officer was in uniform and operating a department-issued motorcycle while responding to a call. The officer was taken to a hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Roads in the area were closed for more than two hours.
