CSPD apprehends felony warrant suspect after foot chase

(COLORADO SPRINGS) — A suspect wanted on a felony warrant was arrested over the weekend after a short foot chase with police, according to the Colorado Springs Police Department (CSPD).

Police said on Saturday, April 13 just after 11:45 a.m. officers were called to a hotel near the 3400 block of Sinton Road, which is just east of I-25 and West Fillmore Street, for a vandalism incident.

When officers arrived the suspect, later identified as Grover Tarver, had left the area. Police also found out, once confirming the suspect’s identity, that he had an outstanding felony warrant for domestic violence burglary.

A short time later, Tarver was spotted by a responding officer walking on Sinton Road toward the hotel and when the officer tried to contact him, he ran away.

Multiple other officers responded and took part in a nearly half-mile chase. According to police, Tarver ran across Monument Creek but was taken into custody a short time later near the 300 block of Karen Lane without incident and without any use of force.

CSPD said Tarver was also linked to an earlier incident at Fillmore Street and Cascade Avenue where he allegedly assaulted a stranger. Tarver was taken into custody on his felony warrant and is also facing additional charges for the alleged assault and vandalism incident.
