VSP identifies woman killed in crash on US-460 in Appomattox County

UPDATE: 5:17 A.M. APPOMATTOX COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Virginia State Police (VSP) have confirmed that a woman has died after a crash on US-460 in Appomattox County on Friday morning.

Troopers said the crash occurred around 4:45 a.m. on May 17. We’re told 44-year-old Amanda G. Layne, of Pamplin, was driving a 2001 Dodge East on US-460, near Old Evergreen Road, when she ran off the road. The Dodge then stuck a mailbox and slammed into a tree.

Layne was rushed to the hospital where she later died.

UPDATE: 6:56 A.M. APPOMATTOX COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — The earlier reported crash on US-460 in Appomattox County is now cleared.



APPOMATTOX COUNTY, Va. (WFXR) — Drivers traveling on US-460 East, in Appomattox County, can expect delays following a crash early Friday morning.

The Virginia Department of Transportation says the crash is near Old Evergreen Road. The east right lane and right shoulder are currently blocked off.
