Crash near Langdon results in one person's death

Mar. 24—LANGDON, N.D. — One person died in a head-on crash near Langdon.

The crash occurred at 9:45 p.m. Saturday, March 23, on Highway 5, a mile east of Langdon.

According to a report from the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 2016 Chevrolet Malibu and a 2008 Chevrolet Silverado collided. The Silverado was driven by Susan Sossamon, 75, of Osnabrock, N.D. She and her passenger, Dale Baldwin, 80, of Osnabrock, both suffered serious injuries. The Malibu's driver suffered fatal injuries; the 26-year-old man's name has not yet been released.

According to the report, "the white Malibu was westbound on State Highway 5. Sossamon was eastbound on State Highway 5. The Malibu entered the eastbound lanes of traffic and struck Sossamon head on. The driver of the Malibu suffered fatal injuries from the crash while those in the pickup, Baldwin and Sossamon, suffered serious injuries. Sossamon and Baldwin were brought to Langdon Prairie Health to be treated for their injuries. The name will be released at a later date for the driver of the Malibu."

The crash remains under investigation.
