Baton Rouge shooting leaves two dead, teen girl hurt, police say

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — Police say two people were killed and a teen girl was hurt in an early Monday morning shooting.

The Baton Rouge Police Department said the shooting happened at around 1:46 a.m. Monday in the 2800 block of 68th Avenue. Investigators said that two people died as a result of this shooting.

The East Baton Rouge Coroner’s Office identified one of the victims as Jonathan Williams, 21. Police identified the second shooting victim as Demetriyon Grim, 23, on Monday afternoon.

A spokesperson for BRPD confirmed that Grim was a suspect who was arrested in connection to a deadly shooting near the Mall of Louisiana in 2022.

According to BRPD, a 16-year-old girl was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A motive and suspect have not been identified in this case.
