Convicted sex offender who ran Midstate carnival game business faces new charges

CUMBERLAND COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM)– A convicted sex offender who traveled across parts of the Midstate area with his carnival game business faces more charges after State Police say he sexually assaulted a minor for years.

Richard Ridley, 53, of Newville, is accused of sexually assaulting a child from 2018 to 2022, according to State Police.

Ridley was taken into custody Monday by the county sheriff’s office and Pennsylvania State Police. He is currently in Cumberland County Prison on $200,000 bail.

According to Troopers, Ridley had a carnival game business called R.S. Entertainment and traveled around different venues in the Cumberland/York County area. He was first charged for not reporting his business despite being a known sexually violent predator.

State Police did not state if the recent charges are in connection with his carnival game business.

In December, Troopers say they got a report that Ridley allegedly sexually assaulted the alleged victim, and investigators allege Ridley indecently assaulted and exposed himself to the victim multiple times.
