Power restored after Cannon Twp. outage
CANNON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) — A power outage that affected some 1,150 customers in the Cannon Township area Saturday has been resolved, according to the Consumers Energy map.
The utility says the outage was caused by a tree falling on a power line during a tree removal.
It happened on the 5400 block of Myers Lake Avenue NE, near Cannonsburg Road NE, according to the Cannon Township Fire Department.
The fire department confirmed to News 8 that a resident and a friend rented a lift to cut down a tree. Firefighters say they lost control of the rope they were using to guide the tree, causing it to fall on a power line.
One man was hurt, according to the fire department. He was taken to the hospital with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, firefighters say.
According to the Consumers Energy interactive map, the outage was reported around 4:45 p.m. By around 8:50 p.m., power had been restored.
