‘Concerned citizen’ call in Nashville results in man’s 5th arrest for DUI

OLD HICKORY, Tenn. (WKRN) — A man was arrested for his fifth DUI after being seen sleeping in his car in Old Hickory.

According to an affidavit from the Metro Nashville Police Department, Mugisha Solomon was seen asleep behind the wheel of a grey Nissan by a “concerned citizen” who called 911 to report it around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 21.

When officers arrived, they saw the man asleep in the vehicle with his keys in his lap and an empty bottle of Jack Daniel’s Tennessee Whiskey in the cup holder.

Officers reportedly had to knock on the car windows “repeatedly and with a great deal of force” to get Solomon to wake up. Upon Solomon awaking and opening the door, officers said they immediately smelled the odor of alcohol.

Officers also noticed Solomon’s eyes were watery and bloodshot. When asked about the whiskey bottle in his cup holder, Solomon told police it belonged to his “friend” who was no longer on the scene and denied drinking.

Solomon complied with a request to exit the vehicle, which is when officers noticed he was unsteady on his feet. Solomon also agreed to perform field sobriety tests for the officers, which reportedly showed multiple indicators of impairment. He was then arrested for DUI and transported to the Metro Jail.
