Columbus woman dead in Macon County crash

MACON COUNTY, Ala. (WRBL) — A Columbus woman died early Wednesday morning in a single-vehicle crash, according to the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA).

Carey Chambers, 45, was driving a 2013 Nissan Juke on Interstate 85 — about two miles north of Franklin in Macon County.

ALEA says at about 5:30 a.m., Chambers’ vehicle struck a ditch and several trees before overturning. Chambers was taken to Baptist Medical Center East in Montgomery where she was pronounced dead.

There is no further information at this time. ALEA is investigating.
