Cleveland city employees now have to confirm they know policies

CLEVELAND (WJW) – The FOX 8 I-Team has found all City of Cleveland employees now have to confirm they know city policies.

This comes to light after what we’ve exposed with high-ranking officials violating the rules involving take-home cars.

All city employees now have to sign a new form confirming they know city policies.

The mayor’s office calls it a “best practice.” City hall says this new form and process had been put into motion by a new human resources director before recent incidents.

In February, we revealed a safety official crashed while driving with kids in a city car. The city has a policy against using a city car to transport children. Assistant Safety Director Jakimah Dye then got fired.

Her boss resigned after admitting to the I-Team he had driven with his son in a city car.

“Officers don’t know general police orders. You have Civil Service rules. You have all of these policies in place, and sometimes, these policies, we become familiar with by happenstance,” former Safety Director Karrie Howard said.

The mayor’s office says all city employees are expected to sign the form acknowledging policies, both union and non-union workers.
