May 23—CARTHAGE — A one-time scholarship has been set up by the The Future of Carthage to honor the memory of Claire Wrightsman.

Wrightsman was a longtime resident of Carthage and a vital part of our community who has been sorely missed. The FOC will present the $500 scholarship at the Freedom Festival this September.

What you need to know:

* Applicant must live in Ripley Township

* Applicant is or will be attending any form of continuing education program.

* No age requirements

* Past Hidden Gem winners may apply

* Funds will be paid to the institution, not the individual scholarship winner

* To apply, simply write a short essay on how this money will help you pursue your career pathway or degree
