Plans to convert a house on a residential street in Coventry to a children’s home are being recommended for approval, despite objections from people nearby.

The applicants want to convert the home on Daventry Road to accommodate up to four youngsters aged between 10 and 17 with complex needs.

They say it would benefit the city by providing homes for local children rather than placing them further away.

Objections raised by individuals and in a petition include road safety and a fear of increased anti-social behaviour.

Councillors on Coventry City Council’s planning committee will consider the proposal at a meeting on Thursday.

Officers are recommending it gets the go-ahead, saying it meets national criteria and is close to local services.
