Child seriously injured by crash on Shenandoah Ave NW in Roanoke

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Roanoke police say they are currently investigating after a child was hit by a motor vehicle on Shenandoah Avenue NW on Wednesday, April 28.

According to RPD, preliminary investigation indicates that a vehicle was driving west on the 4300 block of Shenandoah Avenue NW when a boy was hit after entering the roadway. The child has been taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital for treatment of what appeared to be serious injuries.

Police say the driver is still on scene and cooperating with the investigation.

RPD has closed the 4300 block of Shenandoah Avenue NW between Peters Creek Road NW and Hemlock Road. Drivers are asked to avoid the area until further notice while police and emergency responders complete their investigation and clear the area.
