Chevrolet Sportifies 2017 Spark Activ at Los Angeles Auto Show
Chevrolet introduced at the 2016 Los Angeles Auto Show this week the 2017 Spark Activ, a sporty, trail-inspired version of its Spark small car. The special-featured Spark Activ, which looks like a very small utility, will reach U.S. dealer showrooms in the first quarter of 2017, according to Chevy officials. The manual variant has a suggested retail price of $16,945 and with a continuously variable transmission (CVT), the Spark Activ’s retail price rises to $18,045.
What’s neat about the new 2017 Spark Activ, which is built in South Korea and is still powered by a 1.4-liter 4-cylinder engine that makes 98 horsepower, is its trail look with front and rear fascias that resemble off-road skidplates. The new variant rides on new-design 15-in. alloy wheels and the Spark Activ features a sportier suspension that lifts the car by 0.4 inches. Other features that give the car off-road manners include round fog lights and special housings, contrast wheelhouse and rocker moldings, special hatchback cladding, and a unique front grille pattern with the Spark Activ nameplate. Roof rails give it storage room.
Chevrolet also gives the sportier front-wheel-drive (FWD) small car more upscale interior appointments such as standard heated, black leatherette front seats and a leather-wrapped steering wheel with audio and smartphone controls. There’s extra in-car infotainment and safety technology, including a Chevrolet MyLink multimedia system with 7-in. touch screen and a rear-vision camera system for convenience and safety. The Spark Activ also comes with 3 months of free satellite radio, OnStar, and Wi-Fi hotspot connectivity. Air conditioning, cruise control, and remote keyless entry are all standard equipment.
