Cesar Chavez Day: What’s open, what’s closed

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — In recognition of Cesar Chavez Day on Sunday, the City of San Diego will be closing their administrative offices and several other services on Monday, April 1.

Parking rules across the city as well as public buildings and recreational facilities may also be impacted. Check below for a complete list of what will impacted by holiday closures on Monday, according to the city.

What’s closed on Cesar Chavez Day:

  • All City of San Diego administrative offices

  • All City libraries will be closed Monday and will reopen at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday

  • City swimming pools and recreation centers

  • Public buildings in Balboa Park, including the municipal gym, Morley Field and Balboa Park activity center

    • Check with individual museums and other park attractions for their holiday schedules.

  • Personnel Department’s testing and fingerprinting offices

  • Barrett, Hodges, Lower and Upper Otay and Sutherland reservoirs

  • Parks and Recreation Department Open Space, Permit Center and Maintenance Assessment District offices

  • Container Sales (trash, recycling and organic waste bins)

  • Development Services Department permitting services

    • Online services will still be available, including scheduling inspections, making payments or requesting code enforcement investigations

    • Check online permit processing timelines for intake, review and permit issuance.

  • Your Safe Place – A Family Justice Center

    • Individuals needing help related to domestic violence should call the Domestic Violence Hotline at 888-385-4657. Anyone experiencing immediate danger or a medical emergency should dial 9-1-1.

What’s open or following their normal operating schedules:

The city also said parking meters, parking time restrictions, yellow zones and posted street sweeping schedules will not be enforced within San Diego on Monday due to the holiday. However, all other parking violations will still be enforced.
