CCTV image released after Weymouth shop knifepoint robbery

Police have issued a CCTV image of a suspect as part of an investigation into a knifepoint robbery in a convenience store.

Dorset Police received a report that a man threatened a staff member at Macey's Newsagents in Abbotsbury Road in Weymouth, Dorset, at 13:45 BST on Friday.

Police said he was in possession of a knife and demanded money from the till, as well as other stock items.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Officers conducted searches in the area, assisted by the National Police Air Service helicopter, but the offender has not been located.

Detectives are continuing to make inquiries to identify the man involved.

Det Insp Rhys Griffiths said there would be "an increased policing presence in the vicinity".

He said that "officers can be approached by residents with any information or concerns".

"I am also releasing a CCTV image of the suspect in the hope that it may jog someone's memory, or somebody may recognise him from the clothing he is wearing," Mr Griffiths said.

The force is also keen to hear from anyone with relevant home CCTV, doorbell camera or dashcam footage from around the time of the incident.
