Call impersonating Roanoke Lieutenant fake, sheriff’s office warns

ROANOKE, Va. (WFXR) — Roanoke’s Sheriff’s Office is reporting a fake call impersonating a Lieutenant asking people to bring money to the sheriff’s office.

According to the sheriff’s office, they have been notified about someone calling claiming they are a Lieutenant with the department and then stating the resident has missed a court date or jury summons. The caller then asks for money to make up for these fabricated missed appointments.

Roanoke Sheriff’s Office says these are false and not to bring money to their office regarding these calls.
