Caleb Dulin, High Point officer’s son seriously injured in crash, to move to outpatient treatment next week, family says
TRINITY, N.C. (WGHP) – Caleb Dulin, the teenage son of a High Point police officer, will soon head home, a major milestone as he recovers from injuries he suffered during a crash.
Caleb Dulin has been in physical and occupational therapy at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta, Georgia, since January after months in the intensive care unit.
As of Thursday, Caleb Dulin’s family told FOX8 that he is expected to move to outpatient treatment next week. He is now able to walk some on his own and is breathing on his own. He is regaining strength and mobility and working on motor skills.

“We ask for continued prayer for the family as Caleb works to get stronger and gain full mobility,” his family said in a statement.
Caleb Dulin, the 16-year-old son of Officer David Dulin, was in a serious car crash on Halloween in October 2023. Troopers said the 16-year-old was driving along Finch Farm Road in Trinity when he crossed the center line, ran off the road and overturned. Troopers said speed was a factor in the crash. The crash left Caleb, an Eagle Scout and a brother to four siblings, with a traumatic brain injury.
Since then, the police department, his friends and classmates and his whole community have rallied around him.
Hundreds of students from all grade levels at Wheatmore High School made sure he knows they’re thinking of him while he’s recovering by holding a pep rally for him on Feb. 16. Students packed the bleachers and decorated the gym with signs showing messages of encouragement. Some of the teachers wore their “Dulin Strong” shirts.
Dozens of students brought handmade signs to hold up with well wishes on them like “keep pushing” and “get well soon.”
“He has people here supporting him,” said Kalvin Smith, a friend and classmate of Dulin’s. “He has people here that love him, people here that are praying for him and people here that want nothing but the best for him.”

Two of Dulin’s friends led the pep rally, all while Dulin was watching through a livestream.
Lt. Travis Reams, David Dulin’s supervisor and friend of 15 years, was at work at the High Point Police Department when he got the call about the crash.
“To see him go through this, to see his family suffer the way they’ve suffered and see Caleb in the condition that he’s in, it’s hard,” said Reams.
