Burn to be conducted at a Sedgwick County park today

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — Sedgwick County Fire District 1 will conduct a prescribed burn today at Sedgwick County Northeast Park, 7390 N. 127th St., northeast of Wichita.

The county says the burn will start around noon on Wednesday, pending the correct weather conditions. The burn will remove invasive species and help reduce wildfire fuel load. It will also benefit the land with nutrient and water cycling.

The prescribed burn will be divided into six smaller burns, totaling 268 acres of the park’s 648 acres. The burn sites are kept at minimal acreage to ensure control and safety.
