Broward high school placed on lockdown on reports of armed person on campus

The Broward Sheriff’s Office placed Blanche Ely High School in Pompano Beach on lockdown late Friday morning into early afternoon after receiving reports of a person possibly armed on campus.

The calls came in just after 11 a.m., said sheriff’s office spokesman Carey Codd.

After 1:30 p.m., the sheriff’s office announced that the lockdown was lifted and one person was detained for questioning. Deputies did not find a weapon, Codd said.

This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
